Type description

Van Geel et al. 1981: Zygospores square, 36-44 X 38-48 μm, with straight lateral sides. The broad ends of the retuse angles 9-11 μm in diameter, providing some indication of the breadth of the vegetative cells. Depression in the centre of the retuse angle 2-3 μm deep and 3-4 μm in diameter. Densely covered with small pits about 0.3 μm in diameter.
