Type description

Van Geel et al. 1981: Heterogeneous group of zygospores of the various species of Mougeotia producing square, hyaline zygospores with retuse angles and pitted or smooth surface layer. The diversity of the illustrations shows that it is possible to distinguish different subtypes (representing species?); see also the description of HdV 313A-313D.
