Type description
Prager et al 2006: Tracheids (or fragments) of vascular bundles, elongated rectangular, 10–70 μm long, ∅ 4–8 μm, hyaline to brown. Includes two tracheid types: a) consisting of continuous rings (abundantly found in Cyperaceae peat, pers. comm. Michaelis 2005), b) with pits, often with a wider part (∅ 20 m), possibly from ferns (Grosse-Brauckmann, 1972). Separation between the subtypes only possible in well-preserved material.
