Type description

Concave--convex, lentiform (phacoid). Diameter 160-360(-500)µm (Luther, 1963; Heitkamp, 1972; and own measurements). Outer oocyte wall may or may not present a finely psilate microsculpture. Operculum: With indistinct radial operculum suture. Oocyte may also or exclusively split equatorially during opening. This type includes some other Mesostoma species.
