Type description

Van Geel et al 1994: Akinetes (spores) hyaline, tube-shaped, (15.5-)19-33(-58) X 4-7 µm, excl the (not always preserved) 2.7-3.1 µm broad and 1.9-4.9 µm deep, cup-shaped appendages at the rounded ends of the spores (4, 5, 7 and 8) Spores often broken off at one end (1, 2)
