Type description

Van Geel et al. 1981: Group of ellipsoidal zygospores (or possibly aplanospores) of different Spirogyra species (= HdV 130; Pals et al., 1980). Wall smooth, with a longitudinal furrow which often encircles (almost) the whole spore. Similar spores were illustrated and described by Van Geel (1976) and by Van Geel and Van der Hammen (1978).
