Type description
Van Geel et al. 1989: Globose microfossils, 43.8-70.0(-75.2) μm in diameter, wall 1.5-3.1 μm thick. Circular poroid area (diameter 5-8 μm) with relatively thin wall and surrounded by a thicker annulus. HdV 222 microfossils are often folded. Untrained palynologists could easily confuse pollen grains of Poaceae and this HdV 222 (differentiating feature: the "pore" of HdV 222 is not open and the wall is a compact and not a stratified pollen wall).
