Type description

Pals et al. 1980: heterogeneous group of quadrate, retuse zygospores of Mougeotia species, measuring 31-52 micron each way. Sides straight or concave. Angles rounded or slightly flattened, up to 8 micron in diameter. Greatest diameter of depression in the centre of each angle 2-5.5 micron. Small pits, about 1 micron in diameter present all over the surface of the zygospore wall.
